SGM. David Lewis
Army Instructor
Central High School
- Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on 16 December, 1950, and raised in Aiken, South Carolina.
- He is married to former Carla Lincoln of Dunbar, Pennsylvania. They have been together for 30 years.
- They have 2 sons, Christopher and Patrick who are married and have one grandson.
- After graduating from High School, he entered the Untied States Army on 20 January 1970. He attended Basic Training and Advance Infantry School at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Overseas assignments include duty in South Vietnam in 1970 with the 25th Infantry Division, two assignments with the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, 1976-1979 and 1986-1988.
- From 1993-1995 SGM Lewis was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Australia as the first exchange instructor to the Australian Regimental Sergeant Major Course.
- Some of his duties assigned have ranged from a rifleman to Brigade Sergeant Major. These assignments included duties as company First Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, (1st Battalion, 14th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division Light). His last active duty assignment was the Brigade SGM of the Third Brigade, Second Region (ROTC), U.S. Army Cadet Command Fort Knox, Kentucky. Some decorations and awards that he been award include The Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Air Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal and many more.
- In November 1999, he assumed the duties as the Army Instructor at Red Bank High School. In those 8 years, he maintained a high standard for himself and set obtainable standards and goals for his students.
- In 2007 He transferred to Central High School and has become a valued “Purple Pounder” here at Central.
